Monty

Meet Monty, an 8-year-old domestic shorthair cat

Monty, an 8-year-old domestic shorthair cat presented for abdominal swelling, an irregular heartbeat and a murmur. Ascites (fluid within the abdomen) was confirmed, as was cardiomyopathy and right-sided congestive heart failure. The irregular heart rhythm was due to a condition called atrial fibrillation. Monty made an excellent improvement following medications to control the abdominal fluid, support cardiac function and the arrhythmia, living happily for another 2 years following diagnosis (hunting throughout!).
